8 Cheap and Free Events in Dallas for Everyone This Summer

With summer months rolling along and children gearing up for the break they’ve been looking forward to, you must be scouring the internet for free activities and fun things to do for everyone in your family so that no one dies from bored-ism. It’s a thing in a kid’s world. But here, we will also focus on events to help adults break out of responsibility-ism...if only for a few hours, that is.

Some of the events are, thankfully, free of charge and you’re also free to roam about, enjoy the lackadaisical atmosphere, dig into delicious food and drinks while soaking in the summer sun; others, there's a nominal admission fee. It won’t break the bank and is worth the money.  There are rib-tickling shows, circus acts, Asian art exhibits at the Dallas Museum of Art and Crow Collection of Asian Art, a lineup of kid-friendly activities and classes held at Klyde Warren Park, and humanitarian activities you can catch up with. These eight ideas show you that getting out and about doesn’t have to be too elaborate, fancy, expensive or dramatic. It can be kept simple and to-the-point.

So, without further ado, let’s get the planning started!

Former President of the United States, Barack Obama, designated June as National Pride Month and the community celebrates it by tossing aside stigma, judgment, discrimination, and shame. You must ready yourself to be wowed by the larger than life events that follow the Lunch-n-Learns, celebrity performances and social events.

6. White Rabbit, Red Rabbit

May 30, 218 - July 1, 2018
Dallas Theater Center
2400 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201, USA
(214) 880-0202
www.dallastheatercenter.org
What’s unique about the show is that the actors know nothing...literally nothing about what the show. They’re going in 'blindfolded' about the entire script, making it a completely unique experience for both actors and audience. White Rabbit Red Rabbit is an award-winning play, although some may argue that they are NOT so, where humor is slippery, pointedly absurd and experimental every single time. There is no director, no set, and absolutely no rehearsal. An empty seat at the front row of the audience serves as a reminder that the writer of 'the show' is missing. The actors, on stage, jump out of their comfort zones and reenact as the writer pleases all the way from Iran where he’s not allowed to leave. It’s a creative adventure taken on by everyone watching and taking part...and reviews has it that it stays refreshing right to the end.

7. Universoul Circus

June 20 - Jul 8, 2018
Southwest Center Mall Dallas
3662 West Camp Wisdom Road, Dallas, TX 75237
(260) 348 1122
The message is strong, clear and loud...we are one, the one human race. Priding itself as a representative of every culture, every family, every generation...as the universoul, the Universoul Circus’ run have received countless positive response from fans and critics alike. Showcasing people from all around the world, uniting under one entertaining act, it is both off the rails and bursting with the can-do spirit. The acrobatic extravaganza offers free shows to homeless families and children all across major cities in the United States, raising awareness for the plight of the homeless epidemic nationwide, as championed by its founder, Cedric Walker. It presents a few fun hours of spectacular escape into the world of seeming-impossibilities for families with kids. This year is markedly different and special because the troop is celebrating their 25th anniversary and they’re keener than ever to make the event an edgy, electrifying one, combining the efforts from their Chinese, Cuban, South African, Mongolian (and many other countries) friends. They promise it to be bigger, faster and louder.

8. Ultimate Dinosaur
